About routine and preventative care.
How often should I get a dental cleaning?
Most patients do best with a professional cleaning and exam twice a year. If you have gum disease or a history of frequent cavities, we may recommend every three to four months. We tell you which applies to you at your exam.
What happens at a new patient visit?
A comprehensive exam, a full set of x-rays, and a cleaning where appropriate. You leave with a written treatment plan and the cost of anything we recommend, before any work is scheduled.
Do I really need x-rays?
X-rays show decay, infection and bone loss that are not visible by looking. Our CBCT system uses a focused beam, so exposure is lower than traditional film. We take them when they will change what we do, not by default.
Why fix a small cavity now?
An untreated cavity can become infected, and then it needs a root canal or an extraction instead of a filling. Sealing it early is the cheapest and least invasive point in that sequence.
What are the signs of gum disease?
Bleeding when you brush, redness or swelling, persistent bad breath, gums pulling away from the teeth, or teeth that feel loose. Early gum disease is reversible. Later stages are manageable but not reversible, so it is worth getting looked at early.
Do you see children?
Yes. We treat families at all three offices, and the same doctors see children and adults.
What does a visit cost without insurance?
New patients without insurance can get a complete exam and cleaning for $199 as a new patient special, regularly $350. Anything beyond that is quoted in writing before it is scheduled.
